| Why is the Hawza taught in the English language? |
|
We have Hawza studies around the world in languages other than Arabic such as Persian, Urdu, Gujrati or Hindi. Our question should be why not in English? If Arabic grammar can be taught in other languages, it can also be taught in English, as is the case in many universities in English speaking countries. Also as the student comes closer to the end of the level of Muqadimaat (Pre-requisites), he or she needs to be competent in understanding the Arabic language. The reason is because in the level of Sutooh (the upper or the higher level), which will focus on analyzing the texts and practicing the deduction of the ideas from the Arabic resources, the courses will be either taught in Arabic with mild explanations in English or the material of the course will be entirely in Arabic. In London, United Kingdom, there are a number of similar successful programs. They are available on the following web pages: More about Hawza Studies: |
